This time we are going to talk about Prague restaurant which is named SOVA. As some might guess, this word hints on the famous bird – owl. Place itself looked good on the photos, and it was decided to go there and check the service and food quality.
By the way, here is the link for their website.
First thing to note is that restaurant can be found in Vinohrady area, so be ready to spend some time searching for the parking spot. It might be a better idea to comy by tram, so that you don’t have to worry about walking too far. Restaurant has street seats for the warm season, but we were seated inside because it was raining hard. On the photo above you can see menu at the moment of our visit. Prices are more in the upper range, and you can notice that portions are not big either.
Here is the first starter which is given to you for free. Quite an interesting taste combination, very light and easy to eat. 🙂
I ordered Veprova Krkovice for myself. Overall the quality was quite fine, meat was tender, without any hard spots. Sauce suits this type of meal, so whole combination was good in my opinion.
Another dish was Steak Mignon. Meat was cooked up to asked state, and whole composition was also good in taste. Note that size of the portion is not that big, but enough for the dinner unless you prefer to have a lot on your plate.
Deserts is something what was a bit of letdown for me. On the photo above you can see ice cream WITH salted popcorn. I emphasized the word as the menu was giving impression of ice cream made out of popcorn, not just thrown on top of the ball. This recipe was claimed to be designed by AI, but in my opinion it could be more impressive… On the photo below you can see Fondant, which was good and serving style was also nice.
Overall SOVA restaurant left me in mixed emotions. Some of the meals were good-looking and nice-tasting, but it is just not up to the price asked in the menu. In my opinion there is a bit of extra missing in order to make whole experience up to standard. At the same time I can say that staff was really helpful and ready to explain what is what on the menu. Of course, you can pay here with card.
Final verdict would be four stars out of five, and I am not sure if I will come back again. This is more of something to try once probably.
