Travelling in CZ: Honey Picking in Pernikova Chaloupka

Long time no see, huh? Well, today we will talk about Gingerbread House or Pernikova Chaloupka where yearly honey gathering event was held. This place is easy to find and it is just one hour drive from Prague. Nevertheless, there are some things worthy of attention, so let’s take a look at them together. By the way, be sure to park in front of entrance because it is free, unlike the parking close to castle.

First of all you will have to pass a special “customs” post where you will either pay or show your document. Yes, you can actually buy a passport and become a citizen of this gingerbread country. This is quite funny idea, and I like how it is implemented here.

Here you can check the post from the opposite side. I can say that it is more “cost-efficient” to get yourself a passport if you plan to come here often.

Entrance is hard to miss, but first you will have to register for the walkaround.

This is what you will get in case you don’t have a passport. ๐Ÿ™‚ Small coupons work as money in the restaurant and small shop.

As for the honey – whole procedure could be witnessed in the small restaurant. Moreover, you also had a chance to try this fresh honey or even scrape it yourself.

Here you can see small guy working on some honey.

I was surprised a bit with flavored honey. Some tastes were truly unusual, for example, what do you think about honey with chilli? ๐Ÿ˜€

Here is the photo in case you don’t think that such taste exists. Really weird combination, so I decided to go for honey with nuts.

Another group gets ready for a small trip around Gingerbread House.

Here is the main protector of the Gingerbread House. Well, she is also connected with an interesting story which you will learn during the trip around house.

Of course, you could also take a photo with help of this lady. By the way, don’t forget to visit the castle nearby, it is shown on the photo below.

I have to say that whole trip turned out to be a great experience with fairytale flavor. It might be even more interesting for children who would like to hear some impressive stories and see how gingerbread is made. Note that honey gathering happens only once a year in the summer, so for the next time you will have to wait a bit. ๐Ÿ™‚
I hope you enjoyed this small travel, stay tuned for the next trip.
