Travelling in CZ: Brandys nad Labem

Ok, after a long break I guess this is the time to start posting more about my trips. All lockdown things are slowly getting away, so it is possible to see and show you more. Yes, I put the coffee photo on the top, but we will talk about it a bit later. This Sunday I decided to go to Brandys nad Labem, which is not too far from Prague.

Just half an hour drive and you will be there. Now you also get a chance to enjoy bright fields around…and bugs on your windscreen.

I recommend to try to stop by the main castle in this city. Parking is not paid on weekend, so it is another reason to try your luck. Usually there are several spots available. ๐Ÿ™‚

Moreover, this castle is situated above the city, so you get a chance to see a lot of interesting buildings from above. Name is quite easy to guess – Zamek Brandys nad Labem. It was closed inside during corona-time, but you can still enter the garden and inner yard.

Clock tower is quite beautiful, so it might be a good idea to take a good lens with you or some binoculars. ๐Ÿ™‚

Inside you will find a lot of peacocks, well I guess you will hear them too. Nevertheless, there is a small farm in the castle, so don’t be surprised when you will see chicken, lambs and goats.

Well, spiders are also there. ๐Ÿ™‚

Here is another inhabitant…a bit smelly though ๐Ÿ˜€

This “Zamek” is one of the most recognizable renaissance castles and you will notice it almost everywhere. Moreover, it is one of the few castles in which all Hapsburg kings lived.

Inner yard is also beautiful with its drawings on the walls. Again, small benefit of the coronavirus limits is the absolute silence here. Sit on one of these benches and appreciate calm picture – no wind, no sounds, just old walls around.

When you see all these paintings and gardens, there is no wonder that this castle was kings’ favorite place to rest outside of Prague.

Straight out of the castle you can go to the small bridge.

There you will appreciate another angle on the tower and more old drawings.

As well as modern river channel which is just few meters away.

“Small” part of river is also good place for fans of water sports. Yes, it is a bit muddy there, but is it a real issue? ๐Ÿ˜€

I still wonder how this balcony holds in place…

Now we go the same way back to parking.

There you will find Italian restaurant. I wouldn’t call it top notch, but it is fine for takeaway and eating in park nearby.

Next move to main square and try some coffee from the “Dve Vrany” cafe. That’s the one you can see on the main pic ๐Ÿ™‚

One final walk to your car and quick ride home. I have to say that this city might be a good place to rest out of Prague and have some calm time. There are few restaurants, but it is not a huge issue by me. Moreover, coffee was good, so maybe you can just take your own sandwiches with you. ๐Ÿ˜€

P.S.: all photos were made with iPhone, hence the vertical layout. I promise next time there will be some horizontal shots too.
