This is the first article in the special category dedicated to places where you can drive from Prague. No matter via car or public transport, those spots are easy to reach and might be a good opportunity to take a break from Prague life.
Today we are going to talk about relatively small Bike Museum (Muzeum historických motocyklů v Bečově nad Teplou) which caught my attention this weekend. Just few hours of drive in beautiful landscape will bring you to this collection of unusual pieces in several rooms.
This is not an expensive place. Entrance fee is just 60 Kc for adult plus 20 Kc if you want to take some photos. Of course, all writings are in Czech language, but it is not difficult to understand what is mentioned there. Moreover, ticketing man will be happy to tell you some stories behind these bikes. Some are really funny and basic understanding of Czech language will help you.
I have to admit that some bikes were truly surprising. How about the longest bike or bicycle with engine in the wheel? Maybe you fancy old BMW or another beautiful German bike? One of first Ducati is also here – specially for fans of Italian bikes. Some might remind of bicycles, but look carefully and you will see tiny engines and fuel tanks.
All these rare pieces are in nice condition and ready to drive. This is really surprising and I would happily watch one of them in action. 🙂
Whole exposition hardly takes more than hour, but it is worth spent time. Lighting was okay, not the top one I saw, but it works for overall atmosphere, so I won’t consider it as a disadvantage.
Note that in the same building with Becov moto museum you will find toy museum which might be interesting for adults and children. I also recommend to check coffee place on the opposite side of the street. They can offer really good coffee and cakes.
Feel free to comment on what do you think about today’s place. 🙂
What’s fascinating is that all pieces are still roadworthy. And the ticket man let me sit on one 🙂
